Get Out More Team
Backpacker Magazine's traveling team will be here all weekend participating in hikes and programs. This is GOM third year here at Fontana and we are glad to have them back.

“75 on the 75th” Planning Meeting
The Fontana Hiking Club is on a mission to hike all 700 plus miles of the National Park in 75 day hikes on the Parks 75th anniversary. FHC is looking for input from other hiking clubs and hikers interested in this endeavor. We will discuss fund-raising potential this program has to raise money for the Parks trails.

BMT Trail Work
The non-profit Fontana Foundation will be supporting the Fontana Hiking Club and Benton MacKaye Trail Association with work on the BMT. We will take a ride across Fontana Lake to the North Shore and do work on all campsites between the Dam and Forney Creek.

Geo Cache Event
There are many great caches around the Fontana area. This weekend will be filled with great possibilities to hunt. During our scheduled cache event we will meet, greet and eat. Oh yeah and seek. There are several cache programs to entertain you.

National Park Conservation
For 85 years the NPCA has worked to protect our National Park for the present and future generations. With over 300,000 members this dedicated group has done a great deal of work. See what issues are of importance in the western NC and eastern TN areas.

Appalachian Trail Conservancy
The ATC and Fontana have been working closely to support the Appalachian Trail. Our partners and sponsor of this event are a valuable source for the Appalachian Mountains. Hear Andrew Downs' presentation on some of the current important issues on the trail.

Outdoor Service
Bardin and Marsee Publishing company, producers of The Outdoor Bible, will lead a hike up to Lookout Rock for a service in the mountains where views of the Dam, Fontana Lake, and the Smokies can be soaked in.

Miles From Pangaea
Come lounge on the field with this three piece instrumental band from he greater Atlanta area. From influences like Pink Floyd, Funkadelic, and The Grateful Dead, you're sure to have a chill time.

Galen Kipar Project
The Galen Kipar Project has been an ever-evolving musical experience that has gathered a tapestry of musicians and instruments over the past 10 years. The roots of classical, jazz, blues, soul folk, and world beat are echoed within the overall chemistry of the Project's music.

George K
George K. is quite the gifted musician. Banjo, mandolin, and guitar are just a few of the instruments he plays. Bluegrass, Old Time, and Celtic music are just a few of the genres you will hear.
