Hiking in the Smokies

The sheer beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains cannot be accurately described in words. It has to be experienced. Famous naturalists and photographers alike have been coming to the southern Appalachian Mountains for well over a century. Their legacy is a national treasure that we simply call "The Smokies", the jewel of the American National Parks system. Few places provide a better Smoky Mountain vacation than the Fontana Village Resort.

Fontana Village Resort is proud to be a corporate sponsor of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. The ATC mission is to preserve and manage the Appalachian Trail – ensuring that its vast natural beauty and priceless cultural heritage can be shared and enjoyed today, tomorrow, and for centuries to come.

Appalachian Trail hiking has long been an American passion and the work that created out beautiful scenery was started nearly a century ago in 1921. Join the ranks of countless others who have embraced nature and connected with the human spirit and this majestic trail.
