Traildays

We went to Traildays in Damascus, VA. This is an Appalachian Trail Backpacking Festival. It was fun and I got to catch up with a lot of people I shuttled/met when they came through the village. Once I get some work done you can hear some of their stories at www.wellworntrail.com.
I also met with the "Get Out More Team" from Backpacker magazine. They will be coming to the Fontana area and I will be guiding them through some trails of the Smokies. I am really excited about that since I may get into an article of Backpacker.

Grey Beard

This is Gray Beard. He is a paid Appalachian Trail Ridgerunner. I am a volunteer Ridgerunner, at least I'm a Captain Ridgerunner. I was able to go out with him twice and put in a few steps and water bars. Grey beard thru hiked in 1999 and has been a AT Ridgerunner for the past several years.

Captain Jerry

Some people call me Captain Jerry here. In order to charge people to shuttle them across the lake to the Smokies you have to be a Captain. So the village had me take a class to certify me as a Captain. I thought that was funny. Now I can shuttle groups by boat across the Smokies and guide them along some of the trails.
