A weekly publication called Smoky Mountain News has a feature article on blogging. They have chosen a few "best of Western North Carolina." I am excited to say "This Dam Life" is one of them.

Recently I had a map published titled "Hike Twentymile." It's a narrative map that mixes data and history of the Twentymile area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The latest little media blip was in a great magazine called "WNC." I've been enjoying the magazine for years and am excited that they wrote a piece with it.

The map started out as an idea by Jeannie Stewart, General Manager of Fontana Village, and myself.  The original concept was to make a map for guests that was of good quality so we could send them out on hikes in the area.  It soon grew bigger and bigger as I gathered data and help with friends like Bardin and Marsee Publishing.

There are plans in the work for a follow up map titled, "Hike Eagle Creek."
